Now that my blog is officially up and running, what better opportunity is there for me to put my face out there to all engaged couples who are looking for their wedding videographer!?
I was born and raised in Portland OR, and lived there my entire life before starting college at Montana State University (#gocatsgo). After 4 years of beautiful summers – and some dreadful winters – I graduated with a degree in film production.
While I was in college, I was really involved with video production for Montana State Athletics, so I began my career in sports videography. I filmed just about every (American) sport there is throughout the high-school and college levels. I reached a point, however, where I needed a change.
At the time, I was living and working in Ohio. My then-girlfriend was at a crossroads with her current job, and was ready for a change as well. We both decided we wanted to move somewhere else that had a little more to offer for outdoor activities, scenery, and a lot less humidity. That’s when I found a job at a local TV station in Rapid City, South Dakota! Neither of us had ever been to the state, let alone the Black Hills. But once we did some research on the area, we were sold.
About a year after we moved out west, and were settled into our new life, my girlfriend ran an idea by me. What if I started filming weddings on the side? As I’m sure you can imagine, the paychecks aren’t very big in local TV, so I considered her idea, and got the ball rolling.
6 years later, life looks a lot different…
To start, my girlfriend is now my wife, and we have the most bubbly and happy little 11 month-old son. He keeps us on our toes.
But in addition, my little side hustle of filming weddings has turned into my full-time job! I’ve been so fortunate to be able to start my own business, and be a full-time wedding videographer. I’ve filmed 100+ weddings, and have traveled across South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Iowa, and Colorado to capture couples’ special days.
If your big day is coming up, and you want to be able to relive it exactly as it happened, let’s chat!
